BIOGRAPHY

Born on the 25thAugust 2002, Rachel Lowell is a singer/songwriter from Ħal Lija. From the young age of three, Rachel started attending Musical Theatre School and during her five years at this school she participated in various musicals which include Charlie and the chocolate Factory, Cats and many others.

Rachel competed in her first Singing Festival where she sang Nella Fantasia and came first in her category. After that Rachel has competed in many other Local festivals and always managed to obtain great results. In 2013 during a Singing workshop in Trapani, Rachel had the opportunity to be coached by Iskra, who was the Vocal coach of Lucio Dalla.

Rachel has also competed in various festivals abroad which include, Lake Pearls Festival in Macedonia where she placed Second, Una Stella Sta Nascendo an Italian TV Programmewhere she placed First and won the Golden Grand Prix in the Baltic Voice in Lithuania which was contested by 103 Contestant from 13 different countries.

She also sings with various Local Bands. She sings mostly classics songs and her repertoire includes Phantom of the Opera, Il Mare Calmo Della Sera, I Dreamed a Dream, Hallelujah, Rise Like a Phoenix, Un Amore Cosi Grande, The Prayer, Xemx, Only Tear Drops, Vivo per Lei and much more.

In 2016 Rachel was one of the finalistsin the national selection of the Malta Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2016 with the cover song I Surrender and in November of the same year she was chosen as a stand in for the Finals of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. 

During the same year Rachel took part in the Musical ‘The Sound Of Music’ which was produced by Grapevine Malta at the Mediterranean Conference Centre. In 2017 Rachel together with Doriana Portelli presented the Finals of San Remo Junior Malta 2017. In November of the same year, Rachel submitted an original Song “Li Tiżra Taħsad” for the L-Għanja tal-Poplu – Żgħażagħ 2018, a singing festival dedicated to original Maltese Songs. 

Following a preliminary stage and live auditions Rachel made it to the finals which took place in March 2018. “Li Tiżra Taħsad” was written by Emil Calleja Bayliss and music composed by Philip Vella. 

In 2018 Rachel also took part in another Musical Production by Grape Vine Music, The Phantom of the Opera which was held at the MFCC Ta` Qali. Rachel also took part in the The Entertainers Singing Challenge held by Spiteri Lucas Entertainment in 2015, 2016 and 2017 where in this year she placed third in her category.

2019 could prove to be a game changer for Rachel, having first took part in the chorus of the annual show organised by Spiteri Lucas Entertainment, before being chosen to represent Malta at the OGAE Fan Vision Song Contest with A Million Voices, which Polina Gagarina had originally sang at the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 on behalf of Russia. She beat out stiff competition from Nicole Sciberras and former Malta Eurovision Song Contest finalists; Avenue Sky. Just a couple of days later, she made the finals of L-Għanja tal-Poplu with the song Minn Kajfas għal Għand Pilatu.
